Terms of Use and Sale

Last updated: 8 November 2026

1. Publisher

The Spark Chemistry app (the "App") is published by Victor Morel, a sole trader (micro-entreprise) trading as Sesam, SIRET 992 008 607 00010, 25 rue du Landy, 93400 Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, France, contact: support@sesamlabs.fr (the "Publisher").

Data hosting: Scaleway SAS, 8 rue de la Ville l'Évêque, 75008 Paris, France (centres de données en région parisienne).

2. What the App is

The App is a learning game: short lessons, exercises, reviews, tools and progress tracking, to learn and practise at your own pace. It is not a school course, does not prepare for or award any exam or diploma, and is not published or endorsed by any education authority. Your teachers and your school's programme come first.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you need the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms with you; a parent or guardian is responsible for any purchase made with their store account.

When you first open the App, it asks your age band ("under 16" or "16 or over"). Everyone gets the same App: the answer only decides how ads are served to you (section 6). You can change it in Profile.

4. Account

You can use the App without an account: your progress is then tied to your device. An account, created with Apple, Google or an e-mail address, keeps your progress on all your devices; it is needed for a purchase. Keep your sign-in details to yourself.

You can delete your account at any time in the App (Settings › Account › Delete my account); without an account, you can erase this device's data (Settings › Account › Erase this device's data). Deleting your account erases your personal data as described in the privacy policy. It does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account (section 5).

5. Free version and Spark Premium

Every lesson and world of the App is free, with ads and a daily limit of exercises.

Spark Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly, that removes ads and the daily limit. Its price, its period and what it includes are shown in the App, taxes included, before you buy.

Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same price and for the same period, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal is charged to your store account within the 24 hours before the period ends. A price increase is announced by Apple or Google beforehand, and where the law or the store requires it, it needs your agreement.

How to cancel. Cancel at any time in your store account: on iPhone, Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play › Payments and subscriptions › Subscriptions. The App links to these pages (Settings › Subscription). After cancelling, you keep Spark Premium until the end of the period already paid; the subscription then stops and the App goes back to the free version. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel it.

Payment problems. If a renewal payment fails, your store may keep the subscription open for a grace period while it retries; the App says so. Without payment at the end of it, the subscription ends.

6. Ads

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob, only at the end of a session, never during an exercise or its explanation, never in the Tools, never in your first two sessions, and at most three a day. Ads are never personalised, for anyone: they do not use your interests or your activity in other apps. If you said you are under 16, ads are served under the rules for children (child-directed treatment) and nobody asks for your consent to ads. Details are in the privacy policy. Spark Premium removes ads.

7. Purchase and payment

Purchases are made and paid through Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their own terms, which you accept when you buy. The subscription is attached to your account and works on all your devices once you are signed in. To get it back on a new device: Settings › Restore purchases.

8. Right of withdrawal and refunds

The subscription gives immediate access to digital content. If you live in the European Union, by subscribing you ask for access to start right away and acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once access has started (French Consumer Code, article L221-28 13°; EU Directive 2011/83, article 16 m). The App asks for this agreement on the purchase screen, before the payment button, which also shows the price, the period and the automatic renewal.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own procedures: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, the order history of Google Play for Android. Apple and Google may grant a refund beyond what the law requires. For any problem, write to support@sesamlabs.fr.

9. Content and accuracy

The content is written with the help of artificial-intelligence tools and checked before it is published, including by a second, independent reading. Mistakes can still slip through. You can report one from any exercise ("Report a mistake"). Your teachers and your textbooks come first. The App gives no guarantee of results at school or in any exam.

10. Behaviour

Use the App for yourself and in good faith: no attempt to break it, to copy its content in bulk or to misuse other people's accounts. The Publisher may suspend an account that does so, after telling its holder when possible.

11. Intellectual property

The App, its texts, illustrations and diagrams and the Spark Chemistry brand are protected. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them; any reproduction or extraction of the content needs written permission.

12. Liability

The Publisher takes reasonable steps to keep the App available, without guaranteeing uninterrupted access. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.

13. Personal data

See the privacy policy: sparkchem.sesamlabs.fr/privacy

14. Complaints and governing law

If something goes wrong, write to support@sesamlabs.fr so we can find a solution together.

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country, and you may go to the courts where you live.

15. Changes

These terms may change; the current version is in the App and on sparkchem.sesamlabs.fr. Important changes are announced in the App before they apply. The French version, at sparkchem.sesamlabs.fr/cgu, has the same content.
